Brian Willson backed into type design through the side door—or so he says. A self-described "impostor" in the type world, Willson has no formal training, started designing fonts in mid-life, but nevertheless has been invited to speak at TypeCon, typo[media] 2000, and other type industry events, much to his astonishment.
